I am responding to the blog post about the historical periods. I don't feel there is one true artist that can be labeled as the best representative of our time, but many artists. I feel the music industry would be the best credited source and best representative body to define our culture right now. We have such a wide variety of artists in that industry that we can get a big look at how our culture is right now. We have bands such as One Direction that play music for younger ages talking about how someone is beautiful. This doesn't make sense to me. As a society I think we are making our kids grow up to fast so they can become what, in their eyes, is the cool thing. We have other artists such as Miley Cyrus who used to be this sweet innocent girl who used to sing about having fun with her friends and such, and now at the ages of 16-18 shes singing about drinking and partying. She also pole dances at the kids choice awards for Nickelodeon. This is just wrong. She is portraying the best way to have fun is basically be a whore and wear nothing.
I feel our culture right now is going downhill. We have little girls acting like whores and skanks, and its perfectly fine to their adults because they see that on television and in movies. I think our culture is terrible and needs a wake up call.
