Image Line - Axiom of Web Design

Image Line is a music production software program used by DJs and created by DJs.  I think this is a great website and has a great web design because it is very simple to use and simple to navigate around on. All of the navigation tools you need are directly on the top and can be easily accessible right when you land on the page.  The toolbar at the top doesn't move either when you move down or up the page making it really easy to move to another part of the website if you need to jump automatically. I think the design with the main synthesizers right when you open the page is a great idea because you automatically want to look into the synth or look into the information.  I like the second part of the website as well, the "About Us" section, because it really provides a backing into why Image-Line is doing what it is doing.
As far as the colors and what not, it doesn't really stand out but keeps it simple and to its simplest form.  I like this because it doesn't take away from what the website is trying to sell or trying to convey as its message.  The fonts are all pretty simple as well and nothing too extravagant. It keeps it simple and makes you look into what the page is selling.

I am Romantic

Romanticism vs Enlightened is a tough decision for me. Not really actually. Being more from the western world and the United States, I would have to say I am more romantic because that is what our country was founded on.  We wanted to be individual and individualistic so we broke away from seomthing that was holding up back and holding us down.  I would have to agree because I really don't care what people say about me, I do what I want because I want to do it and enjoy every second of my day doing whatever the hell I want to.  I am not into poetry though so that makes me a little less romantic.  When it comes to nature, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Hiking through Yellowstone and seeing everything nature has to offer is one of my favorite things to do in the world.  Whenever someone says lets go for a hike or go biking or something of that sort, I am always the first one to say yes or hell yes.  I enjoy being outside because I love seeing the sights around me and seeing everything that nature has to offer. The sense of being in nature is unlike anything else. It is a euphoric feeling that isn't like anything else and gives you such a natural high seeing a giant valley beneath your feet and realizing you hiked 5 miles just for this 5 minute view.  It is really like nothing else. For example, yesterday I went biking out past Bloomington and started at the bottom of the trail I was doing.  As I was biking up the stupid thing, I wanted to give up multiple times because my back was hurting from lifting the prior day.  I kept wanting to turn back and just go back down to my car.  I kept going because I knew the view from the top is very, very worth it, since I have seen it multiple times.  I am very passionate about biking and soccer as well, which is another aspect of being romantic.  I would give up everything just to play soccer or bike again.  For example, my ex-girlfriend wanted me to give up soccer because she was saying it was making me sad but lets just say I gave up something else instead and was much much more happy.

Marriage..crazy

Hograth's series of paintings called Marriage a-la-Mode was somewhat funny to me.  We saw the paintings according to the story line and I sort of laughed when I saw them and was told their meanings.  The paintings detail the story of a failed marriage and the story of a marriage for money.  I find this series of paintings funny because they are contraversial and somewhat ironic.  They show images that you will only get if you look at them more than once or know exactly where and what they are. The image I find the funniest would be the second one.  The second one shows the married couple already failing.  I find this funny because the arrangement was set up, and clearly not many arranged marriages work.
When it comes to marriage today there are many, many problems, espcially in Utah.  Utah's culture pushes marriage onto teenagers and young adults that they feel like they have to get married.  I'm not even consumed by the Utah culture and sometimes I feel I am doing a wrong because I am not getting married, but then I wake up and realize I would be making a mistake.  Thats what I think people who get married this young are doing.  They are making a mistake.  Thats what is wrong with people in Utah and marriage.  They get married when they are 19 or 20 before they are finacially stable or stable in general.  If we were to create a painting or a series of paintings that show marriage now-a-days, it would be a five day piece where in the first one the couple meets, the second they go on a date and get engaged, the third they get married, the fourth have a fight, and the fifth they would be broken up already. I feel in Utah, people rush into marriage way to quickly therefore leading to marriages and failed marriages.

Bernini's David vs. Michelangelo's David

Differences in Michelangelo's David and Bernin's David can be seen the instant you set eyes on them.  Bernin's David was constructed during the Baroque Era when the artists were not focusing on making the perfect body and the artists were not obsessed with make every little detail look perfect. When you look at Bernin's you can tell it is not perfectly sculpted such as Michelangelo's.  Michelangelo's David was constructed during the Renaissance where perfect bodies were the focus.  Michelangelo's piece is very detailed and almost perfect.  There are hardly any flaws in his form because of how Renaissance art was focused on the supposed perfect body.  Bernin's piece is a perfect epitome of the Baroque era.  He is trying to show his skill and knowledge of the body with his piece.  With the different stance David is taking he is showing off his skill as a sculpturer in the ability to move muscles the way they ought to. It also shows the Baroque Era idea because the piece isn't perfectly standing.  This was introduced in the Baroque Era because of how they were breaking off from Renaissance Era art.
Another difference, I believe, is that during the Baroque Era, the Catholic Church was trying to get their members back and Bernin's piece illustrates a story from the bible, David and the Golith.  I believe this has to  do with the Reformation because of the obsession with art that shows spiritual stories.

The Last Supper

I am choosing to write about Da Vinici's The Last Supper.  Written in the late 15th century, the painting depicts the last supper of Jesus and his 12 disciples when Jesus would tell them all one of them will betray him, referring to of course Judas.  The painting is a perfect epitome of the art of the time.  With the mountains and valleys in the back the paint displays the atmospheric characteristic of the time that was introduced during this time as well as the linear perspective with all the lines drawing together on a single vanishing point which is right in the middle or right above Jesus' head. This also displays the Renaissance idea that Jesus should be the center of the art during the time. The disciples all are doing similar things with their hands as well. James, I believe, is the disciple to Jesus' immediate left, is holding his hands in a manner that immediately draws the eye to Jesus because of the line his two hands create.  They run directly to Jesus' head.  The next group of disciples down the table to the left, all have their hands out in a line that makes the eye run through the painting towards the center, which is Jesus. This painting is a perfect portrayal of the art of the time also because it shows Jesus as the center of the artwork.  The art in this time wanted Jesus to be portrayed as the center of their whole being.  This displays that with the singularity of Jesus and the fact he his the vanishing point, drawing the eye directly to him even when first glancing at this painting. The color used in this painting also depicts this idea.  The sides and edges of the painting seem to be a little blurry/faded and Jesus in the middle seems to be shining and more brightly lit.  Jesus also is a lot brighter than the background with the clothes he is wearing and his pale skin.  This basically pops him out and makes the focal point easier to see.

Classical Blog Post

I am responding to the blog post about the historical periods.  I don't feel there is one true artist that can be labeled as the best representative of our time, but many artists.  I feel the music industry would be the best credited source and best representative body to define our culture right now.  We have such a wide variety of artists in that industry that we can get a big look at how our culture is right now. We have bands such as One Direction that play music for younger ages talking about how someone is beautiful.  This doesn't make sense to me.  As a society I think we are making our kids grow up to fast so they can become what, in their eyes, is the cool thing.  We have other artists such as Miley Cyrus who used to be this sweet innocent girl who used to sing about having fun with her friends and such, and now at the ages of 16-18 shes singing about drinking and partying.  She also pole dances at the kids choice awards for Nickelodeon. This is just wrong. She is portraying the best way to have fun is basically be a whore and wear nothing.
I feel our culture right now is going downhill.  We have little girls acting like whores and skanks, and its perfectly fine to their adults because they see that on television and in movies.  I think our culture is terrible and needs a wake up call.

Be Drunk

In class we read a short poem called "Be Drunk" by Charles Baudelaire.  The title of the poem does not directly associate with being drunk on alcoholic beverages, it simply means that people should be over consumed by something in their life or else their life has no purpose.  I agree with this point of view because if you are not in love with something about your life, you live without purpose.  I believe I am drunk on making music and music in general. I love making music, specifically electronic music such as progressive house.  I spend a whole lot of my free time doing this.  I strive to be a full time music producer and make it to the big leagues such as EDC and Ultra Music Festival.  For the music itself part, I am absolutely drunk on music.  I can't go 5 minutes without listening to something.  I love finding new music and music I have completely forgotten about.  I love listening to new music and discovering different genres and different types of music.  My favorite right now is electro house and progressive house.  I find new music every day because there is so much progressive out there, on websites such as Youtube and Soundcloud.
So as to Charles claims of it being important to "Be Drunk" I completely agree with him.  Like I said before, if you are not drunk on something, and haven't committed your life to something, you will go on searching for something to have your time all wrapped up in, and you won't find it, you will search for ever and slowly lose yourself along the way.  I agree with Charles.
