I am Romantic
Romanticism vs Enlightened is a tough decision for me. Not really actually. Being more from the western world and the United States, I would have to say I am more romantic because that is what our country was founded on. We wanted to be individual and individualistic so we broke away from seomthing that was holding up back and holding us down. I would have to agree because I really don't care what people say about me, I do what I want because I want to do it and enjoy every second of my day doing whatever the hell I want to. I am not into poetry though so that makes me a little less romantic. When it comes to nature, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Hiking through Yellowstone and seeing everything nature has to offer is one of my favorite things to do in the world. Whenever someone says lets go for a hike or go biking or something of that sort, I am always the first one to say yes or hell yes. I enjoy being outside because I love seeing the sights around me and seeing everything that nature has to offer. The sense of being in nature is unlike anything else. It is a euphoric feeling that isn't like anything else and gives you such a natural high seeing a giant valley beneath your feet and realizing you hiked 5 miles just for this 5 minute view. It is really like nothing else. For example, yesterday I went biking out past Bloomington and started at the bottom of the trail I was doing. As I was biking up the stupid thing, I wanted to give up multiple times because my back was hurting from lifting the prior day. I kept wanting to turn back and just go back down to my car. I kept going because I knew the view from the top is very, very worth it, since I have seen it multiple times. I am very passionate about biking and soccer as well, which is another aspect of being romantic. I would give up everything just to play soccer or bike again. For example, my ex-girlfriend wanted me to give up soccer because she was saying it was making me sad but lets just say I gave up something else instead and was much much more happy.

Marriage..crazy
Hograth's series of paintings called Marriage a-la-Mode was somewhat funny to me. We saw the paintings according to the story line and I sort of laughed when I saw them and was told their meanings. The paintings detail the story of a failed marriage and the story of a marriage for money. I find this series of paintings funny because they are contraversial and somewhat ironic. They show images that you will only get if you look at them more than once or know exactly where and what they are. The image I find the funniest would be the second one. The second one shows the married couple already failing. I find this funny because the arrangement was set up, and clearly not many arranged marriages work.
When it comes to marriage today there are many, many problems, espcially in Utah. Utah's culture pushes marriage onto teenagers and young adults that they feel like they have to get married. I'm not even consumed by the Utah culture and sometimes I feel I am doing a wrong because I am not getting married, but then I wake up and realize I would be making a mistake. Thats what I think people who get married this young are doing. They are making a mistake. Thats what is wrong with people in Utah and marriage. They get married when they are 19 or 20 before they are finacially stable or stable in general. If we were to create a painting or a series of paintings that show marriage now-a-days, it would be a five day piece where in the first one the couple meets, the second they go on a date and get engaged, the third they get married, the fourth have a fight, and the fifth they would be broken up already. I feel in Utah, people rush into marriage way to quickly therefore leading to marriages and failed marriages.
